OWNER QUESTION

How do I get found on AI search?

BEST FOR

Owners who want AI recommending their business

Introduction

The same things that make a business easy to recommend make it visible to AI search: a website that answers real questions in plain words, documented proof of real jobs, genuine reviews, and other websites mentioning you. There is no secret trick and no paid shortcut. It’s substance, done deliberately.

What “AI search” actually means

When someone asks ChatGPT who to call, or Google answers a search with an AI summary at the top of the page, those answers name real businesses. Being one of the businesses named: that is all “getting found on AI search” means. You don’t need the jargon. You need to be the business the answer reaches for. If you haven’t checked whether that’s already you, start with the two minute test.

Answer real questions, in actual sentences

Write your website the way your customers talk. Every service you offer and every area you cover should exist in words on the page, not just in photos. The questions people ring you with are the exact material: what does it cost, how long does it take, do you service my suburb, can you fix this. Every one of those answered plainly on your site is a sentence an AI can quote. A page that answers a real question beats a page of slogans every single time.

Make sure AI is allowed to read your site

Some websites unknowingly block AI readers entirely. It’s a technical setting, it’s invisible to you as the owner, and it takes a web person minutes to check. The same goes for sites built almost entirely of images or loaded in ways a reader can’t parse: to a system that runs on words, that site is mute. If everything else on this list is in place and you’re still invisible, this is often why.

Your Google profile and reviews do heavy lifting

When an AI weighs up whether you’re any good, your Google reviews are some of the strongest evidence it can read. Keep your profile complete and current, make sure the booking link points where it should, and ask real customers for reviews steadily rather than in bursts. Never buy them and never filter out the bad ones with gating tricks; that can breach Australian consumer law and it poisons the record AI reads.

Document your jobs properly

This is the one most businesses skip, and it’s the one we believe matters most. A finished job, photographed properly and written up with the suburb, the scope and the result, is exactly the kind of evidence an AI can point to when it recommends you. One documented real job beats twenty “quality service” slogans. It’s most of the reason we run photography, case studies and websites as one in-house job: capture the work, write the record, build the page. Have a look at what a documented job looks like and the rest of our work.

Get mentioned where you already belong

Supplier pages, industry association directories, local business groups, club sponsorships, a local news story about a job. Every real mention is another source telling the AI you exist and you’re legitimate. Skip the shortcuts entirely: bought link packages and directory spam are the online version of a fake review, and the systems reading the web are getting better at ignoring them.

Keep your details identical everywhere

Same business name, same phone number, same service area, on your site, your Google profile and every directory that lists you. An old number or a former suburb sitting on some directory is enough to make an answer hedge, or worse, send a customer to the wrong place.

Keep answering

Every real question you answer in writing compounds. Over months, you become the business in your area that has already written the answer, and that is the business AI answers quote. That’s the whole strategy behind our own guides: original answers, published steadily, each one built on real work rather than opinion.

How you’ll know it’s working

Run the two minute test monthly and note what changes. Watch your website analytics for visitors arriving from chatgpt.com. And watch the AI summary above Google’s results for your trade: when it starts naming you, you’ll know exactly which of these steps got you there, because you’ll have done them deliberately.

The honest bit

Nobody can promise you a spot in an AI answer, including us. The answers move weekly and there is no rate card. What we can say is that every step above makes your business easier to verify and easier to recommend, to a human or to a machine, and the businesses being named today are simply the ones that did this work. This is what our Growth stage does end to end.

FAQs

Is this different from normal Google SEO?

The foundations are mostly the same, which is good news: work done for one pays for the other. The difference is that AI reads answers out in full, so plain quotable sentences and checkable evidence matter even more than clever keywords.

How long until it works?

Honestly, it builds over months, not days. Reviews accumulate, mentions accumulate, and pages need time to be found and read. The businesses that treat it as a habit rather than a campaign are the ones that end up owning the answers.

Do I need to be on every AI platform?

No. ChatGPT, Google’s AI answers and the rest all read the same public web. One set of real substance, your site, your reviews, your mentions, feeds all of them at once.
